2018 Season Schedule (TBD)

  • 8 game season (April-May), followed by a MN state tournament (Early June).
  • Home Field Info: Billings Park Field 3903 N 18th, Superior, WI 54880.
  • Practice/Conditioning Info: Billings Park Field as well.
  • Indoor training to be determined.
  • Outdoor practices will be 5:30-7:30 Tue & Thurs - as weather/field conditions permit.
  • Games are typically on Sat. @ noon

Equipment and Uniform:

  • NSR will supply game jerseys for all games.
  • Players must obtain:
    • Mouth guard – fitted guards are cheap at Lake Superior College
    • Footwear (rugby, soccer, or football cleat)
    • Black rugby shorts
    • Black game socks
    • Optional Equipment & Gear- compression shorts, scrum cap, protective gear, soft braces - the general rule is “no metal or hard plastic allowed, fabrics only”

Player Safety Precautions in Rugby

  • Proper Tackling Technique will be taught – FORM tackles.
  • Concussion Management – all coaches have gone through significant training to ID and address concussions.
  • CPR qualified coach is present at practices.
  • Paid First Responders are required at each match.
  • Coaches will always have player’s safety in mind:  when in doubt, sit them out.

American Football vs. Rugby

  • No blocking, no diving, no leaving the feet to tackle without wrapping
  • Must wrap on tackle - no putting a "Superman shoulder or head” into anyone
  • Contact only with the ball carrier

Registration Process and Club Dues

  • Register with MN Youth Rugby $85 - this registers you with USA Rugby as well
  • Club Dues for 2017 @ $150 per player – Fees cover food for post-game socials, referee fees, sideline trainers during match play, pitch maintenance/line painting, stocking first Aid kit, field and training equipment.

Travel to Away Matches

  • Players are NOT allowed to drive themselves to “away” games.
  • A parent/coach driver is preferred.
  • Parents are required to help get everyone down and back.

Volunteer Opportunities

  • Match socials.
  • Field prep & goal posts.
  • Game day programs.
  • Team photography & Video.
  • Half time energy food (home and away).
  • Game day beverage coordinator (home and away).
  • Uniform laundering.
  • Driving duties.

It is impossible to excel at something you don’t enjoy.
